Despite the weather it has been another good morning for waders on the estuary, with a good mixed flock showing well from Middle Point

Middle Point
Ahead of the tide this morning a flock of mixed waders close to the viewing point included 308 Dunlin, 29 Grey Plover, two Little Stint, three Curlew Sandpiper, five Bar-tailed Godwit, three Spotted Redshank, a Greenshank, two Knot, two Black-tailed Godwit and 24 Ringed Plover. Also noted were 18 Pintail and a Tufted Duck, 11 Little Egret, four Grey Heron and seven Crane.

Zeiss Hide
Before the high tide roost arrived counts this morning included six Curlew Sandpiper, a Greenshank, three Spotted Redshank, 12 Redshank, two Little Stint and two Ruff. The high tide roost then saw numbers increase to include totals of seven Curlew Sandpiper, two Little Stint, a juvenile Little Ringed Plover, three Spotted Redshank, seven Ruff, a Green Sandpiper, 15 Redshank, 24 Black-tailed Godwit, a Sanderling with 200+ Dunlin.

Rushy Hide
The lower pond held 71 Black-tailed Godwit, nine Redshank, three Lapwing, the Avocet, 38 Teal and a Green Sandpiper this morning. A Ruff dropped in with around 20 Dunlin, and a Grey Wagtail was on the concrete overflow.

Estuary Tower
At least 67 Curlew were feeding on the Dumbles this morning including three colour-ringed birds. An unringed Crane was also here, with two Raven and a Peregrine on the riverbank. There are now two Ross's Geese with at least 145 Barnacle Geese on the riverbank, plus a hybrids.

South Lake
Work is continuing here today to improve the flow of water through the area and create moats around breeding islands. We hope to complete the work this week, with no working taking place at the weekend regardless.
