More in overnight

We've had more arrivals over night, not least with the Bewick's Swans who are up to at least 90 birds now on site, including a few more familiar faces and a some new birds making their first visit to us.  And its not just bird arriving, the skies are filled with Redwing and Fieldfare this morning, all on the move heading east, sometimes in large groups.

Rushy Hide & Peng Observatory

As well as an increase in the Bewick's Swans, duck numbers are up slightly too with 96 Pochard and 77 Pintail.  Don't forget to check the back of the pools for the large number of Teal which numbered 483 this morning.  We've also got a nice flock of Lapwing coming in to the Rushy and a few Dunlin occasionally join them.

Holden Tower and Walkway

It was a busy Holden Tower this morning with birders looking for the Lapland Bunting, but no sign so far.  Check our Twitter feed for all the latest updates - @slimbridge_wild.  A total of 66 White-fronted Geese were on the Tack Piece, another increase from yesterday.  The Little Stint was reported on the Holden Scrape along with an ever increasing number of Golden Plover and Lapwing.  We've also got around 1000 Wigeon on the scrape too.  Five Cranes dropped in to the Tack Piece mid morning and a Chiffchaff was calling.

Kingfisher Hide

Although quieter than the last few days there are still lots of birds here to see, not least the gorgeous Gadwall just in front of the hide along with a pair of Little Grebe.  Out on the Bottom New Piece field we have a great mixed wader flock including Lapwing, Dunlin, Ruff, Redshank, Snipe and Black-tailed Godwit.
