Recent Sightings - 13th April 2020
The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie at Low Tide. Spring activities continues with hoverflies, beetles and butterflies like the Small tortoiseshell and Peacock visible on the reserve. Flocks of Brent geese can still be seen on the estuary, as they gear up for their onward migration. A flock of Knot and Black-tailed godwit (now showing their vibrant summer plumage) have become fond of the Freshwater lagoon, and can regularly be seen roosting on the islands amongst the gulls. Swallows have arrived and are now feeding on the Main Lake, and Linnet is now in full song at the Brickworks and Wader marsh.
