Recent sightings - 13th February
The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide. The moderately winds prevailing in the last hours are probably having an effect in the presence and distribution of birds, which could be looking for sheltered places with higher intensity.
Estuary
Shelduck 10, Redshank 40, Curlew 10, Greater black-backed gull 1 Black-headed gull 2, Black-tailed godwit 20.
Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Mallard 150, Black-headed gull 45, Tufted duck 15, Gadwall 7, Coot 5.
Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide
Redshank 1.
Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory
Redshank 1, Little egret 1.
Peninsula Marsh - visible from the Limekiln observatory and the Peninsula lookout
Spoonbill 1. This bird is being quite constant around the site in the last weeks, coinciding with the high tides. Watching it voraciously feeding in the marsh is astonishing. Shelduck 10, Curlew 20.

Chaffinch 2, Tree sparrow 1, Goldcrest 2, Robin 2, Coal tit 3, Goldfinch 10, Long-tailed tit 1, Dunnock 1.
