Recent sightings - 19th December

The following sightings were recorded at low tide on the 19th December, and despite a misty start to the day there was plenty of birds to be seen in the reserve and on the estuary.

Estuary - visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Brent geese 470, Shelduck 1,000+, Teal 9, Merganser 4, Eider 150, Oystercatcher 173, Curlew 25, Dunlin 67, Knot 11, Lapwing 355, Black-headed gull 25, Lesser black-backed gull 2, Common gull 3, Herring gull 25, Redshank 206, Little egret 5, Cormorant 1, Merganser 6, Great-crested grebe 2

Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 255, Tufted 20, Black-headed gull 25, Coot 2, Grey heron 1, Mute swan 1.

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Oystercatcher 2, Coot 4, Moorhen 4, Mute swan 1.

Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Coot 4.

Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory

Little grebe 2, Black-headed gull 1, Redshank 1, Tufted 1, (Yellow hammer 17th)
