Recent Sightings - 25th August 2020

The tell tale signs of summer turning into autumn are abound this week. Wading birds are starring to return to the Lough with good numbers for Redshank seen roosting on the wadermash and the ditransitive call of the Curlew out on the estuary. The flowers in the brickworks are beginning to go to seed which is heaven for the goldfinches who can be seen having a feast on the heads of the Knapweed as it begins to lose it's purple petals. However the signs of Summer are clinging on; butterflies are still abundant on site, in particular Small Tortoiseshells are everywhere and Common Blues have emerged for the second time this year! Migrant Passerines are still present on site, Willow Warblers and Blackcaps.
