Recent sightings - 26th November
The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide.
Estuary - visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory
Brent geese +250, Oystercatcher +200, Curlew 10, Shelduck +300, Redshank 20, Pintail 1, Eider 40.
Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Mallard 200, Tufted 11, Black-headed gull 19, Coot 2.
Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide
Coot 2, Oystercatcher 2, Redshank 2, Curlew 1, Teal 4, Little egret 1.
Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog
Coot 2, one of them struggling to cross the frozen water surface.
Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory
Little grebe 6, Black-headed gull 1, Greenshank 2, Redshank 1, Little egret 1.
Limestone Lake
Tufted 1, Mallard 2, Wren 1.
Brickworks
Chaffinch 1, Oystercatcher 3. The grassland cut we performed in late summer is proving to be attractive for these animals, in a moment where any source of food is very welcome!:
