Recent Sightings - 27th April 2020

The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie at Low Tide.The Terns are now frequently seen flying over the site and more summer visitors are arriving including the noisy Sedge warbler heard from the reeds in the peninsula field. The first eggs have been laid by the Black-headed gulls which have expanded their nesting area on site.The swamp is bursting with song with the sound of Blackcap, Willow warbler and Chiffchaff filling the air.

We recorded a hedgehog from the Limestone lake edge and butterflies spotted on site include Small tortoiseshell, Peacock, Small white, Orange tip and Green-veined white
