Recent sightings - 27th January
The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide.
Estuary
Oystercatcher 270, Shelduck +300, Redshank 40, Brent geese 15, Curlew 20, Common Teal 2, Lesser black-backed gull 2, Black-tailed godwit 20, Little egret 1, Dunlin 83, Grey plover 4. We are still having amazing sightings of waders in front of the Brent Hide and Limekiln observatories every day, near high tide.
Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Black-headed gull 44, Shoveler 5, Mute swan 1, Mallard 120, Tufted duck 10, Teal 9, Coot 2.
Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide
Oystercatcher 1, Redshank 3, one of them ringed:
Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog
Mallard 2, Coot 3.
Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory
Common teal 1.

Tufted duck 4, Mallard 19, Teal 1.
Woodland
Coal tit 4, Goldcrest 2, Chaffinch 5, Great tit 1, Robin 2, Wren 1. The silent shadow of a female Sparrowhawk passed flying through the Swamp.
