Recent Sightings - 2nd November 2020

The following sightings were taken yesterday from the reserve at Castle Espie at low tide. The typical winter bird fauna continues to change with the season with some rewarding views over the estuary. A small group of Whooper swan can be seen on the estuary and occasionally flying over the reserve. Flocks of Knot, Dunlin, Bar-tailed godwit and Grey plover have been particularly noticeable in the last week with some great views with the changing tide. The Cattle egret stayed around the reserve for some time, but sightings have been infrequent of late, and amazingly we had all three species of egret (Great white, Cattle and Little) on site on the same day. Look out for Redpoll and Siskin as well as wondering flocks of finches and thrushes throughout the reserve.
