Recent Sightings

Sightings from the 22nd September have included:

  • 26,100 Brent Geese have returned to the Lough to date, with 5,000 spotted on the Estuary.
  • Main Lake – 67 Greylag Geese, 2 Kingfishers, 5 Little Egrets, 1 Greenshank, 14 Gadwalls, 12 Black Tailed Godwits and 5 Redshanks.
  • Small Birds – 3 Wheatear, 1 Meadow Pipit and 3 Stonechats on the Peninsula Salt Marsh.
  • Wader Marsh – 62 Black Tailed Godwits, 4 Redshanks, 1 Curlew and 1 Bar Tailed Godwit.
  • Freshwater Lagoon – 3 Mute Swans, 5 Coots and 2 Little Grebes.
