The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie at LowTide. There is a nice mix of summer and autumn activity on the reserve with the birds like the tern and swallow still active on the nest while at the same time we are see

The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie at Low Tide. There is a nice mix of summer and autumn activity on the reserve with the birds like the tern and swallow still active on the nest while at the same time we are seeing the start of the wintering birds such as Curlew and Teal arriving.

Estuary - visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Oystercatcher 1, Curlew 1, Black-headed gull 14, Lesser black-backed gull 1, Little egret 1, Black-tailed godwit 2, Herring gull 1

Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 147, Graylag goose 5, Tufted 9, Black-headed gull 2, Coot 2, Little grebe 2, Swallow 1, House martin 1

Shingle Bank - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
