Recent sightings - 5th May
The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide.
Estuary
Brent geese 16, Oystercatcher +200, Black-headed gull +100.
Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Black-headed gull 150, Tufted duck 6, Coot 1, Mallard 50, Greylag 1.
Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide
Shelduck 1, Blck-tailed godwit 70, Knot 5, Black-headed gull 3, Lesser black-backed gull 1.
Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog
Tufted duck 16, Mallard 6, Black-headed gull +350, Coot 2.
Saline Lagoon - visible from the Saline Lagoon lookout and Limekiln observatory
Gadwall 2, Black-headed gull 26, Shelduck 2, Redshank 4. Two pairs of Common terns arrived three days ago, after an amazing trip which brought them from Southern Africa, where they spent the winter. They seem to be showing real interest in the Saline Lagoon, and we'll try our best to encourage them to nest.
