Sightings
At least 3 Ruff (1 male + 2 female) were on site today, females from Ron Barker and the male from UU Hide. A single Dunlin was on the Mere all day and plenty of Little Ringed Plover and Ringed Plover to be seen.
An adult male Peregrine was seen to take a chick from Woodend Marsh this morning, at the moment plenty of easy pickings for the Peregrine or Large Gulls at the moment with so many chicks around.
The Yellow Wagtails continue to show well just offsite along Curlew Lane, with at least 7+ birds (5 male + 2 female).
At least 1 Little Egret was around today also Kingfisher seen from the Ron Barker Hide and a 1st sum/2nd cal year Mediterranean Gull was on the Mere in the morning and afternoon.
Pochard with young from the Harrier Hide at the moment along with nesting Great Crested Grebe. Nearby Tawny Owl chicks near the nesting box just inside the collection by Janet Kear Hide. Also Barn Owl seen hunting at the back of Sunley's from Ron Barker Hide.
