Spoonbill and Yellow Wagtails

Summer Walkway

Spoonbill still feeding out on the estuary. At least 9 yellow wagtails with the cattle, Peregrine chasing racing pigeons, buzzard and kestrel as well. A charming flock of over 50 Goldfinch at least 70 curlew roosting 4 of which were head started coulour ringed birds. A green woodpecker was along the walkway.

Rushy

Still a little quiet after yesterdays cutting work but a nice close green sandpiper and 3 snipe among lots of lapwing.

Kingfisher Hide

A newly harvested wheat field has attracted the entire crane flock with all 12 here this morning. Lots of warblers around as well, blackcap, whitethroat and cettis all seen or heard.

South Lake

The now normal cracking flock of 180 black tailed godwit with 32 redshank and 9 ruff among them. An adult and 2 juv little ringed plover were at the back of the scrape and lots of gadwall, coots and greylags on the lake.

Zeiss Hide

Almost 100 lapwing here with single ruff and redshank among them, Two green sandpiper. 4 black tailed godwit and 17 avocet. There were 3 curlew 2 of which were yellow ringed head started birds. Teal building nicely with 240 counted, shoveler and gadwall among them. Grey heron and buzzard.
