Three Wood Sandpipoers

Rushy

Great start to the morning rounds. Three juvenile wood sandpipers were close to the hide. Also three Green Sandpipers a redshank and three Black Tailed Godwits.

Tack Piece

Lots of sheltering waders here, at least 14 green sandpiper, a juv dunlin, 2 redshank a juv dunlin and 8 black Tailed Godwit. There were 18 Teal and 6 shoveler and at least 3 yellow wagtails among the cattle.

Mid point

A certain atmosphere here with strong winds and driving rain but few birds, high tide from 15.00 so watch for any storm blown seabirds then..

Zeiss Hide

Lapwing 172 with 7 ruff among them, 2 little ringed plover and 2 snipe and still 20 avocet. Duck numbers building slowly with 74 teal and 36 shoveler.

South Finger

A kingfisher was seen briefly at the kingfisher hide.

South Lake

Given the conditions some great birding here dominated by nearly 400 black tailed godwit also 36 redshank, 65 lapwing a common sandpiper, 2 green sandpiper, 3 ruff the little ringed plover adult and well grown juv,. Ducks increasing here as well with 62 teal, 46 tufted duck, 34 Gadwall and 19 shoveler. A flock of 8 cranes flew over and 2 dropped into the lake and at least one release scheme curlew was seen
