Wet half term doesn't stop New Life
The New Life event at Arundel Wetland Centre has been running daily despite the unpredictable weather. The thunderstorm and torrential rains on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon temporarily flooded the Pond Explorer station and the lighting called a halt to the boat safaris but all was up and running again after the storm had passed.
Arundel Wetland Centres General Manager Tim McGregor said "The weather has been see-sawing daily between heavy rain and sunshine so the wetland plants are going wild with stunning flowers. The damp doesn't affect the ducks and our visitors have been very brave, ducking into the wildlife hides or coming back into the visitor centre for cake and coffee when the rains hit."
This half term visitors can go pond dipping to fish out wild wonders in the fabulous Pond Explorer Station with the WWT Learning team on hand to help ID your catch! Also running is the Wetland Discovery Boat Safari everyday between 11am-4.30pm. What will you discover on this brilliant 20-minute guided voyage through the reedbed channels? Water vole? Kingfisher? Wild ducklings? Come rain or shine the boat safari is open and it’s free with your admission price. Families can get hands on with eggstra-ordinary eggs, feathers and the wonders of nest design on the roaming New Life trolley. Kids can also create Cracking Crafts every afternoon in the Swan Lake craft room. On the grounds look out for wild ducklings, goslings, chicks and cygnets wandering the reserve.
Arundel Wetland Centre is open every day. The 65 acre wetland reserve has buggy friendly, paved, level pathways and sturdy wooden boardwalks. The boat rides, pond dipping and the wildlife hides are wheelchair accessible.
