Wood Sandpiper

The Wood Sandpiper seems to have settled down in Langleys Brook viewable from Ron Barker Hide, also occasionally on Sunley's from the same hide. Also from Ron Barker Hide today 3 Dunlin, 5 Little ringed Plover, 45 Ruff (mainly males moulting out of the elaborate breeding plumage), Green Sandpiper, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Lapwing and small numbers of Snipe. At least 20 Avocet on Woodend Marsh this morning as well as 5+ Little ringed Plover and 2 more Dunlin and several Ruff, also the pair of Common Tern are feeding newly hatched young on the small green island in the middle of the marsh.

Up to 5 Little Egret from Ron Barker as well as the usual Kingfisher including this years youngsters.

A female Ruddy Shelduck was on the Mere late morning then on Woodend Marsh from UU Hide, also up to 3 Green Sandpiper on the small pool as well as Sedge Warbler and Reed Warbler.

A Willow Tit was showing well from the Janet Kear Hide this afternoon, also Treecreeper near Raines Hide, 15-20 Long-tailed Tits near the Duckery this morning. Chiffchaff still singing in the collection.

An Adult Hobby was seen from Ron Barker Hide this afternoon, also 2-3 Sparrowhawk sightings today along with the usual Kestrel and Buzzard.
