Latest Sightings - 28th January - More flooding

The B725 from Annan is closed at Bankend due to flooding. Roads from Dumfries are currently open, but with a horrendous forecast they could become difficult this afternoon. Please take care if visiting us today.

The rain is relentless at the moment and we are doing everything we can to keep the Avenues open, but the water is difficult to shift.
Wellies are essential for accessing most of the reserve, especially the Avenue Tower and Saltcot Merse Observatory.

No sign of the Ring-necked Duck the past few days, although there has been a drake Greater Scaup on the Whooper Pond.

Wader numbers are still very high, with over 500 Lapwing, 1000 Golden Plover 150 Redshank 50 Oystercatcher and 50 Curlew in the fields yesterday.

Today's high tide is at 14:51  9.0m
