Latest sightings
For anyone visiting at the moment, the spectacle of Barnacle Geese is only getting better with a whopping 12,000 seen on the reserve on Monday! There has been considerable interest in the white-phase Snow Goose seen most most days recently, but unwary visitors should be careful not to confuse it with any of the three leucistic (white) Barnacles. The Snow Goose has obvious black wing tips, along with orangy bill and legs. It is also considerably larger than the Barnacles with which it associates. Whether a captive escapee or genuine vagrant we simply don't know, sorry!
The first few winter thrushes have been around in low nos., mostly Fieldfares, and small mixed flocks of Siskins, Redpolls and Goldfinches are frequenting the avenues here
