Reserve update, Monday Jan 11th

Access blocked due to flooding at Bankend (3 miles away) affecting visitors from an easterly direction, ie from Carlisle/Annan/M6. Head instead to Dumfries and back out to here via the Bankend Road, past the hospital. Access in turn to the hides in the wider area here requires wellingtons. The birds remain widely distributed in the flooded conditions, but large flocks of Golden Plover mixed with Lapwings are particularly spectacular, as are the 100 or so Redshank on the Folly Pond. The Ring-necked Duck is again on Whooper Pond, as are slightly larger nos. of Whoopers - 160 today

Today's spring tide is at 13.02, 9.5m
