Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Reserve Update Thursday 15th December

Another lovely morning, although the darker start seemed to confuse some of the Whooper Swans who were a little late leaving the Folly Pond to head over to the Whooper Pond.  Numbers of Whoopers are staying around the 150 mark with newcomers still arriving.  Today we had Orange YDJ (Clara) join us.

Elsewhere there are ten Pintail on the Folly Pond and large numbers of Wigeon.  The drake American Wigeon dropped into the pond at dusk last night but has since moved on and no sign so far this morning.  A lucky few yesterday witnessed the passage of 30  Waxwings down the Saltcot Loaning, always one to keep an eye out for!

Todays high tide is at 12:55, 9.9m
