Reserve Update Wednesday 25th October - Great White Egret

The Great White Egret has once again been seen this morning out on the merse from Saltcot Merse Observatory.  For such a blatantly large, white bird it does manage to hide rather well in the creeks!  It has also been a day for waders with 50 Curlew in Prince Philip's Field, over 200 Lapwing and Golden Plover on the strand line on the merse and not forgetting the 5 Black-tailed Godwit in Newfield.  There is a large flock of Barnacle Geese visible close in the fields from the Newfield Hide so this is worth a visit today.  And if you do pop in there, the Kingfisher was spotted yesterday afternoon in the Back Pond hide which is just next door to it.
