Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Sightings 02/02/2017

The lochar field and the flood ground are still looking really good with big numbers of Wigeon, Teal and Barnacle Geese feeding here. Flocks of Lapwing and Golden Plover are also regularly dropping in with a 2610 of the later swirling around yesterday afternoon, making for quite a sight.

A female Merlin was showing off well, sitting on the fence line looking west from the avenue tower this morning.

The American Wigeon is yet to be seen today but is almost certainly still around.

A male Hen Harrier showed brilliantly at high tide yesterday afternoon, hunting up and down in front of the Saltcot, a picture below.

Todays high tide is at 15:48, 9.2m
