Wetland Explorers at Caerlaverock this summer

Families can take part in a variety of wild, watery adventures this school summer holidays.

There are loads of exciting wetland challenges waiting for families, including pond dipping, willow crafts and a nest building challenge. At our exciting Wetland HQ in the Picnic Area you can pick up a trail map and set off on our NEW ‘Wild Child’ trail, wading through mud and splashing barefoot through water. Children can use their log books to help them on their expedition and stamp it with special wetland explorer stamps as a take-home reminder of their wild day out.

Take part in our special Tuesday events during the summer, such as the Mini Mammal Morning, Wildlife Photography for Kids, Dragons and Damsels and Willow Crafts for Kids.Or go pond dipping with a warden to help you identify the water creatures you discover. For budding naturalists, the Wetland Safari Weekend, 10th-11th August is not to be missed! There’s something for everyone, with nature discovery activities such as nature walks, bug hunting, family crafts, a dragonfly identification workshop and bird ringing demonstration.
