Caerlaverock update, 11th Nov

The wind has dropped for the time being but a lot of water forming temporary flashes lies in the fields, giving a good spread of duck, with over 3000 Teal and about 800 Wigeon plus a few Pintail. Flocks of Golden Plover are making brief appearances, especially around the high tide, which saw over 1000 Shelduck on the narrow strip of uncovered mud at the tide edge. A Peregrine Falcon made an unusual sighting for me this morning, sat in a tree! The avenues are quite wet, so visitors would be well advised to bring wellies
