Latest Sightings - 23rd October

Great news as early estimates from the coordinated Barnacle Goose census on the Solway put numbers over 41,000 for the first time ever for this population!
This is an increase of around 3,000 on last years count and a massive achievement from just the 300 individual birds in 1948.

A male Hen Harrier has been seen around the reserve the past few days. Best places to look are the Saltcot Merse Observatory and the Avenue Tower.

The drake Green-winged Teal is still on the Folly Pond with over 200 Eurasian Teal. Tricky to spot, but if it is the same one as the past 2 winters (which we believe it to be) it should stay until spring.

Today's high tide is at 09:03  7.8m
