Artists inspired by nature

Nanuk by artist Jeremy Hamilton

Castle Espie Gallery will be opening the doors on Saturday 16 March at 2pm to an inspiring mixed exhibition of art works by NI artists.

The theme of the exhibition was to capture the surrounding nature using various mediums. The Nature through Art exhibition features artworks from a number of artists including Louise Clarke, Chantalle Coombes, Lyn Majury, Jeremy Hamilton and Victor Simpson.

Local artist, Lyn Majury said, “I am delighted to have my work included in the Nature through Art exhibition as I use painting to try to send a message. In this exhibition it is to encourage people to look more closely at their environment and see with 'new eyes'.

"I also like to recycle and use mundane items such as buttons and threads along with paint to help mimic nature for example a dark forest floor.”

Victor Simpson said: "For the Nature through Art exhibition my inspiration has come from the wonderful array of birds that can be seen at WWT Castle Espie and Loughshore. This is my first showing of artwork in a gallery and I feel honoured to be selected by the Castle Espie Gallery for this exhibition."

Maeve Curran, Castle Espie Marketing and Communications Manager said: "One of the aims of the gallery is to encourage fresh talent and new work to come forward. To this end the Gallery put out a call for submissions on the theme of Nature through Art and were delighted with the response not only from local artists in the region but also as far down as Co Cork."

Maeve went onto say, “It is a delight to see such wonderful pieces of work with such a variety of styles celebrating the superb nature surrounding us”.
