BBC’s Wild Week Live coming from WWT Castle Espie in May

WWT Castle Espie is set to become the centre piece of a BBC Northern Ireland week-long broadcast event called Wild Week Live.

The TV and radio extravaganza taking place at the end of May, which will celebrate the rich wildlife resident around Northern Ireland, will use Castle Espie as its base.

Four half hour live programmes will be broadcast from the centre from Monday, 23 May to Thursday, 26 May, plus a special hour long programme on Friday, 27 May.

Presented by Donna Traynor and Darryl Grimason, Wild Week Live will feature wildlife such as badgers, bats, foxes and ancient forests, as well as starlings, pine martins, hares and red kites and interview many people with a passion for the outdoors.

The audience at home will be encouraged to undertake wildlife projects of their own too – including Moth Night. And there will also be a report on the dawn chorus, which can be heard loud and clear at Castle Espie.

The WWT centre at Castle EspieWild Week Live kicks off on BBC Radio Ulster on Saturday, 21 May at 8am with a special Your Place or Mine.

The following week you’ll be able to see WWT Castle Espie live Monday – Friday at 7pm.

On the same days there will also be a special live BBC Radio Ulster show each morning at 10.15am.

Keep up to date with the filming and related events on Castle Espie’s news pages or by following WWT on Twitter @wwtconservation.
