May beckons and with warmer weather just around the corner, WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre outside Comber has a few unusual events planned for the first May bank holiday weekend.

Behind-the-scenes Reserve Tours – Sat 4, Sun 5 & Mon 6 May at 2pm
Enjoy a very special exclusive behind-the-Scenes tour and discover how the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust manage their wildlife reserve and collection of ducks, geese, and swans from around the world. Grounds and Reserve Manager, Kerry Mackie, will take you behind the scenes and explain how the all the amazing spaces for wetland creatures have been created, their ongoing management and show you the benefits to wildlife throughout the seasons. Seasonal highlights at Castle Espie include the arrival of thousands of Brent geese in winter to the return of other birds, such as Swallows, to build nests and rear their young. Please call us to book your space.

The wee Birdie Birdwatch Sun 5 May
Join our resident expert, Dot Blakely and her team from Castle Espie Bird Watching Club for a series of bird watching talks and walks around the woodlands. Great on for the kids and of course Mums and Dads. Walks start at 2pm and every half hour until 4pm. Please contact us to book your space.

Finally why not visit our spring exhibition Land, Air and Sea by the Majurys. The inspiration for this exhibition reflects their passion for our environment whether it be the sea, wildlife, the changing landscape or memories that each of these areas can evoke. The exhibition runs from Thursday 2 May until Sunday 9 June.

All events are included in the cost of admission and free for WWT members.
