Have a Magical time at Castle Espie this Christmas

Here Comes Santa - 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 & 23 Dec
Meet Santa in his magical grotto and all the little ones will receive a very special gift, enjoy storytelling while toasting marshmallows in the Crannog, have a go at making cranberry crafts and check out our cracker cranberry trail. Activities run from 10am to 4.30pm. Event cost is £5 for adults and £12.50 for kids, price also includes festive refreshments. Booking is essential.

Get crafty with Craneberry Fest!
Throughout December and January, the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, with the farmer owned Ocean Spray cranberry cooperative, will be hosting the first ever Craneberry Fest. This will be a celebration of our favourite wetland fruit, the cranberry, and an iconic wetland bird, the crane, after which cranberries are named.

So when you’re tired of shopping, at your wits end with wrapping or need some fresh air after a week of indulgence, look no further! Visit at the weekends in the run up to the festivities to make beautiful cranberry decorations for the tree and visit after Christmas, and into the New Year to make cranberry bird feeders. While you’re with us drop into the Loughshore Cafe to try delicious cranberry mince pies, panini’s and cranberry juice drinks, all using Ocean Spray products, for a taste of yuletide’s favourite berry. Included in cost of admission.

Boxing Day Walk - Thurs 26 Dec
Burn off the Christmas calories with a brisk guided walk. Feed the birds, visit our hides, and enjoy the fresh air with an expert guide to show you the season's wildlife. Tours take place at 12pm & 2pm. The event is included in cost of admission and free to WWT members.

Come and get your New Year’s bird list off to a flying start! How many different species of wild birds can you find during your visit? Great fun for all, including those who don’t know their Starlings from their Cormorants. 10am - 3.45pm

Birdwatch Morning - Thurs 30 Jan 2014
Join Dot Blakely our resident birdwatching expert and find out more about the birds around Castle Espie. Dot covers all types of birds on her informative monthly birdwatch morning. Dot will also tell you interesting facts about garden favourites such as the Robin to the more elusive but nonetheless firm favourites the Kingfisher, waders to waterfowl and all between! Event starts at 10.30am and included in cost of admission.
