May events at Castle Espie
May 2011
It’s wild at Castle Espie – from plasticine to Mesolithic man!
May beckons and with warmer weather just around the corner, Castle Espie Wetland Centre outside Comber has a few unusual events planned for the month.
An early start at 6pm on Saturday 21 May will certainly be worth it for our dawn chorus. This special breakfast and birdsong event will bring you up to speed on early morning avian choristers. £12 per person includes a delicious breakfast. Booking in advance.
BBC Wild Week Live will be broadcast live from anchor location, Castle Espie from Monday 23 – Friday 27 May. The programme may be viewed at 7pm on BBC1, Northern Ireland.
Sunday 29 May brings Mesolithic man into focus as a trip down ancestor lane will take place in the centre’s history zone.
Lastly, ever-popular, artist, Jim Russell will bring his plasticine workshop on Monday 30 May (Bank Holiday), to the centre. Jim will give a quick creative tour of the main tips for crafting this multi-coloured plastic clay into creations worth a second look. The event runs between noon and 4pm on both days.
Aside of charged events other events are at usual wetlands admission.
Castle Espie is open daily from 10.00am. Access to the car park, shop, Loughshore Café and Graffan Gallery is free.
