The Mayor of Ards, Councillor Stephen McIlveen opens ‘Wildwood Play’ Area
The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust were delighted that Mayor of Ards, Councillor Stephen McIlveen officially opened the newly refurbished natural woodland play area formerly known to visitors as ‘Stoat Town’.
The new development includes swings; a tubular badger set system which children can enjoy exploring various tunnels. There is also a rope wall, super-fast slide and climbing frame that will keep kids entertained, providing opportunity for parents to enjoy the scenic views of Strangford Lough and Scrabo Tower.
Centre Manager, Debbie McCamphill, said: “Our woodland natural play area is a novelty for both children and adults, taking you back to your childhood days. It also provides a safe environment for children to engage in the "rough and tumble" of active play while also learning how to interact with each other. Everyone comes away smiling and it is just one of many great experiences that Castle Espie has to offer.
Speaking about the opening of the play area, The Mayor of Ards, Councillor Stephen McIlveen said:
