Your wetland needs you!
Castle Espie Wetland Centre, outside Comber is currently recruiting for new volunteers. If you fancy embarking on something new in 2011 and are interested in wildlife, wetlands, history and people there are vacancies in administration, marketing, events, education, retail, catering and grounds. So something for all tastes, from the great outdoors to helping make events memorable, from working in the shop to being part of our education team and passing on the conservation message to schools and colleges.
Running a conservation charity is no mean feat these days in current economic times. In fact Comber-based wetland centre, Castle Espie relies on the invaluable support of volunteering staff to help run the three times award-winning venue.. This special army of people recognises that although they give up their time free of charge, the rewards in store are much more satisfying than financial remuneration. The good news for 2011 is that Castle Espie is on a recruitment drive for new volunteers and is holding an open day on Saturday 22 January.
So if you would like to help protect wetlands locally and globally for future generations, meet new friends and be part of a team, then why not find out more on one of the two sessions on the day? A behind the scenes tour of the centre and grounds kicks off between 10.00 am – noon and 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm. No previous experience is necessary just a passion for life and learning. Full training is given on site by dedicated staff for all appointed volunteers.
Castle Espie is open daily from 10am. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. With a choice of delicious freshly baked food in The Loughshore Cafe, a packed gift shop, fabulous exhibitions is The Graffan Gallery and free parking,
Castle Espie is a magical place to visit!
