'Look up and wonder' - Majury family exhibition

Emma and Sarah Majury were both inspired and encouraged to paint by their mum, Lyn Majury. After completing degrees in Fine and Applied Art at Ulster University they have both settles in County Down where they continue their art practice. Although Lyn is no longer able to paint due to dementia, her daughters have selected a few of her paintings to display alongside their new work.

Sarah is a multi-disciplinary artist working predominantly in oils and printmaking. Her current body of work is focused on capturing moments in nature such as the seeming chaos of movement in murmurations or the found treasures that are mementos of time spent in nature and the feeling of connection that can be gained by disconnecting from digital life.

Emma works mostly in oils or pastel. Her current work explores the painterly nature of the sky - its ephemeral beauty and the fleeting glimpses of colour and shape that can often go unnoticed in the flurry of busy lives. An avid sailor, she finds inspiration in the beautiful skies, shorelines and landscapes from around Strangford Lough and beyond.
