Bunting-fest
Overcast to start the day with a little misty rain feeling milder and spring like in the afternoon. Top news, the water levels on the Mere are slowly being dropped to the spring/summer levels!
A great selection of species seen and heard today. Both Yellowhammer and Corn Bunting singing on the reserve boundary, plenty of Reed Bunting on the Reed Bed Walk / outer path and if you call in at in focus, Andy Bunting will tell you the best spots for these species.
Bittern and the elusive Bearded Reedling were both reported (heard) today on the Reed Bed Walk.
Five Barnacle Geese present again today
Raptors included Marsh Harrier, 3+ Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Two adult breeding plumage Med Gull on the Mere late afternoon.
Waders included 30+ Ruff including one male in near breeding plumage, c.40 Black-tailed Godwit, 60+ Oystercatcher, 80+ Avocet, 4 Redshank, 2 Ringed Plover, 20+ Lapwing and 10+ Snipe.
A Great-crested Grebe on the Mere was unusual.
