Starling Murmuration

The starling murmuration is still showing well. We will keep our Harrier Hide and Discovery Hide open after closing until the murmuration finishes (approx 16:45). The rest of the site will close at usual times.

Latest Sightings

There have been a good number of Lapwings and 11 Black-Tailed Godwits flying around the Mere today.

The Snow Goose is still present, as well as the Pink-Footed Geese and Whooper Swans. You can view them from the Discovery Hide and Raine's Observatory during our daily Wild Bird Feed.

Also seen were 2 Ruff, 3 Snipe, 1 Gadwall, 1 Lesser Black-Backed Gull, 1 Male and 1 Female Kestrel, 7 Cormorants, Pintail, Mallards, Coots, Moorhens, Wigeon, Pochard, Shelduck and Tufted Ducks.

At Ron Barker hide, 3 Little Grebe, 4 Marsh Harrier, 1 Tawny Owl, 1 Kingfisher and 6 Cattle Egret were observed.

Many songbirds have been spotted at Janet Kear hide including Goldcrests, Redwings, Goldfinches, Bullfinches, Fieldfare, and Great Tits.
