Latest sightings
We have been open for 2 days now, bookings only on our website to limit numbers and ensure social distancing. Most of the hides are open but we have had to close United utilities, kingfisher, Hale and gladstone as they are either too small, can't have a one way system or the entrance is too cramped. We are limiting numbers in the hide so please be mindful of others and let others use the hides. We have a one way system in place so to get to the harrier hide you need to walk a short route through the grounds and if you want to go to the Gordon Taylor hide you need to go around the reedbed walk
There are still lots of avocet chicks on the mere and woodend marsh, black-tailed godwits infront of Ron Barker hide. Little ringed plovers infront of the harrier hide.
Lots of fledged black-headed gulls on the mere. Little grebes and great-crested grebes infront of the Harrier hide.
At Janet Kear hide the feeders have been busy with newly fledged finches and great-spotted woodpeckers. A pair of coal tit are feeding newly fledged young by the wow aviary. The cuckoo has been calling loudly in the reedbed and infront of the Ron Barker hide. Lots of reed, sedge and cetti's waders singing on the reedbed walk.
