Redshank arrives.

More signs of spring as a single Redshank turned up on the Mere this morning. Redshank breed on the reserve and as more birds come in it's a great chance to brush up on your wader id skills while good numbers of Ruff (c80 today) are still present.

Other waders seen today included 40+ Avocet, 81 Oystercatcher, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, ~300 Lapwing, 3 Ringed Plover and Dunlin.

Goldeneye still present on and off the Mere with 50+ Pochard.

A partial leucistic  adult Black-headed Gull on the Mere late afternoon.

Brambling again from the Janet Kear Hide, Great-spotted Woodpeckers present there too. Near by Tawny Owl roosting in the owl box towards the United Utilities Hide.

Three Peregrine, 4+ Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.
