The young tawny owl is still showing very well on the path to Ron Barker. Have a good look around as it keeps moving from tree to tree and hiding well in the ivy so be patient. Our reserve team has put a sign out to indicate the rough area of where to look.
Elsewhere on site there has been barn owl seen actively hunting from Ron Barker hide as well as hobby, buzzard, kestrel and marsh harrier giving a good mix of raptors. The bittern is also very active at the moment being seen from Ron Barker hide and over Woodend Marsh.
There is still a good selection of waders on site with green sandpiper still showing and recently snipe have also been making an appearance. Be sure to check out the mud at Ron Barker, on the mere and on Woodend Marsh as there is always a good chance to find a rare vagrant wader!!!
