Thursday update
It's still mostly about numbers here at the moment, with 400+ Whooper Swans coming in to roost tonight, and 15,000+ Pink-footed Geese in the immediate area. Amongst the Pink-footed Geese on the reserve were a Barnacle Goose (yesterday) and a Pale-bellied Brent Goose, which has been on Plover Field for most of the day today.
Raptor numbers also seem to be increasing, with at least 2 Merlins (including the little beauty above, photographed yesterday by Phil Johnson), 5+ Marsh Harriers, 4+ Common Buzzards, and 2 Peregrines including one adult female.
On the Mere today, 4 Little Egrets, 50+ Black-tailed Godwits, several Ruff and a single Dunlin.
