Tuesday Update
Two pair of Common Tern on the Mere. Small numbers of Gadwall there this morning, also a pair of Wigeon. At least 20 Avocet and 2 Little Ringed Plover also on the Mere. Good views of Pied Wagtail coming into feed in front of the Discovery Hide.
Out on Woodend Marsh, 6 Avocet, 2 Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, 2 Redshank, 2 Oystercatcher and 10 Lapwing.
Tufted Duck and Pochard present from the Harrier Hide. Also Great-crested Grebes there.
Oystercatcher chicks on Sunley’s Island (from the on Barker Hide) have started to develop adult plumage, several newly fledged Robins and Blue Tits along the nature trail towards Kingfisher Hide.
Bittern booming on the Reed Bed this afternoon.
More Shelduck ducklings around the grounds, we have 5 occupied Shelduck nest boxes.
Plenty of Swift feeding over the reserve this morning.
