Turnstones & Garganey
No sign of the Dowitcher today but Turnstones and a showy Garganey, Turnstone and Garganey photo's by Tony Disley
No sign of the Dowitcher today but hopefully is still around. Highlights today include at least 5 or 6 Turnstone, a group of 4 were on the Mere briefly before flying off to the north. Another bird was on Woodend Marsh at the same time and later another or possibly the Woodend bird was on the Mere late afternoon.
At least 3 Greenshank have been seen on Woodend Marsh and 2 on the Mere late afternoon. Green Sandpiper was seen at Ron Barker Hide along with 1500+ Black-tailed Godwit. Up to 24 Ruff mainly on the Mere or Woodend Marsh. Still good numbers of Snipe around with at least 150+ and 600+ Lapwing.
A juvenile Garganey was on the Mere in the afternoon, also several Yellow Wagtail around the Mere presumably some of the 20+ that have been in with the Cattle again this morning.
A juvenile Marsh Harrier was seen several times along with a Peregrine and a few Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and Buzzard.
Up to 3 Barn Owl can be viewed distantly in the open metal Barn near the sewage works, can be viewed from the metal gate at the end of the Reedbed walk area.
The Willow Tit was again visiting the feeders at Janet Kear hide, also an intriguing report of a Green Woodpecker briefly from here.
A couple of Bank Voles were seen feeding on the fallen seeds under the feeders at Janet Kear Hide on and off today.
