Wheatear and Little Egret

A male Wheatear was seen from the reedbed walk today, a Little Egret was reported and also a breeding plumage Mediterranean Gull was briefly on the Mere in the morning along with the usual pair of Great black backed and a pair of Lesser black backed Gull.

Good numbers of Ruff still with many starting to aquire the breeding plumage, a few Redshank, Black tailed Godwit and Ringed Plover. Only 2 Whooper Swan on the Mere today but with others scattered around the reserve. A group of c100 Pink footed Goose were on the outer edge of the reserve and at least 1 Raven.

Common Buzzards were obvious today with a couple of birds displaying over nearby woodland, also a male Kestrel displaying and at least 1 Sparrowhawk.
