First Brambling of the autumn which was seen on and around the feeders at the Janet Kear hide several times throughout the day. Will it be a big year for this species? Only time will tell. At least one Redwing was in the collection area this morning, and several flew over the reserve.

Star attractions still has to be the big numbers of Pink-footed Geese with 15,000+ coming onto the reserve from midday onward.

Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk were particularly active today.

Keep checking the tit flocks for Goldcrest and Yellow-browed Warbler.

Kingfishers are still viewable from the Ron Barker and United Utilities Hides.
