Holden Tower and Tack Piece

A Firecrest has been singing constantly and showing occasionally in the bushes immediately in front of the hide. several each of Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff here as well. A couple of small parties of Sand Martin passing through. At least 6 Cranes were in the Tack Piece along with 46 Shoveler, 26 Teal and 18 Wigeon. A good high tide running in but little other than a handful of GBB Gulls and a calling ringed Plover flying around. A scruffy young Peregrine was on the Dumbles and the Brent Goose was still there.

Rushy

The immature Little Gull was on here first thing but flew out at 08.15 and as yet has not been relocated. There were 7 Avocet and a displaying pair of  Redshank here as well, these were joined by 7 others and a Spotted Redshank briefly around midday (high tide).

South Lake

Some great close up views of Avocet 29 in total and around 50 Black Tailed Godwit with just 1 Ruff so far. Very busy with Black Headed Gulls and 3 2nd summer Mediterranean's looking great among them. A Kingfisher is regularly passing in front of the hide so keep eyes and ears open. A pair of Garganey appear on the lake from 14.00

Kingfisher Hide and South Finger

Lots of activity again from the Kingfishers, lots of digging, washing and occasional food passes from the pair. Look hard and you will see around 6 pairs of Lapwings including at least two incubating females and a pair of displaying Redshank. Lots of Warbler activity here as well with a handful each of Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler all singing.
