Latest Sightings

On the 10th July, a WeBS survey was conducted throughout the site. Although the conditions proved not to be great, it was lovely weather for ducks. This was reflected in the number of Mallards recorded which came in at an overall total of 542. Other species of duck recorded during July's WeBS survey can be seen in the table below.

Black-tailed Godwits numbers are on the increase as failed breeders are starting to migrate back to the site. In July's additon of WeBS, numbers were noted at 129. They can currently be seen enjoying the muddy conditons on the Mere and Woodend marsh. Lapwing numbers proved to be strong after a successful breeding season on site, 398 were recorded, predominantly on the mere. Further to this, the table below includes all other species recorded during July's WeBS.
