Latest sightings

We are now open but you can only visit if you have booked, please book your tickets on our website. Some of the hides are closed (United utilities, Hale and gladstone) there is a one way system in place so to get to the Gordon Taylor hide you must go around the reedbed walk.

It's been lovely having the visitors back and the site looks great highlights this weekend was a newly fledged cuckoo chick seen by the Gordon Taylor hide still being fed by the reed warblers some good photos were taken. Thank you Neil Flemming for the fantastic photo!

Also at the Gordon Taylor hide 2 wood sandpipers, regular sightings of the hobbies and marsh harriers.

Young woodpeckers are enjoying the peanuts at Janet Kear

Still plenty of avocet chicks on the mere

Lots of black headed gull chicks on the mere and the common tern chicks have hatched so they are often seen carrying food

Three pairs of barn owls are feeding chicks so are hunting lots.
