Latest sightings

Still lots of flowers along the footpaths attracting a great variety of insects perfect for photo opportunities.

The reserve team are working on the footpath to the Gordon Taylor hide taking advantage of the dry weather which is expected. There are great views of Avocet, oystercatcher, lots of lapwing, little ringed plovers and ringed plovers from the Gordon Taylor hide.

We have been napping the extent of 2 of our SSSI designation plant species this year, tubular water dropwort and whorled caraway which have both increased loads which shows that the grazing and ditch management on the reserve is doing its job!

Good numbers of Swifts using the site, often seen over the mere and the reedbed, Raven in the grounds heard calling today.Curlew on woodend marsh.
