The centre remains closed to public but we are all still hard at work maintaining the reserve and grounds. The mere is still alive with wildfowl, with shelduck, wigeon, pintail, pochard and gadwall all showing well, with large number of waders foraging on the edge of the mere; including oystercatchers, black-tailed godwits and ruff. Snowdrops are beginning to bloom, a sign that spring will be here soon.
2 woodcock and a great white egret and a male stonechat. were spotted along the public footpath outside the reserve earlier this week with marsh harriers and barn owls seen daily throughout the reserve. Photo: Jim Bevan.
